Why is it so hard to please people? I suppose we’ll see how well this game performs in comparison to CoC, and how they handle different aspects of the mythos differently. Creature design was great, the Leviathan was awesome, endings were as good as a Lovecraft game could probably ever get, only complaint I could possibly understand is not enough actual Cthulhu, although I thought the use of the Leviathan to ground the mythos more in reality and connect the humans of this world to the inner workings of the occult was genius and incredibly interesting. Environmental design was spot-on and nothing short of stunning, atmosphere couldn’t possibly resonate Lovecraft vibes any more. Gameplay could have been better but it wasn’t frustrating or lackluster, aside from that god awful Shambler encounter in the Gallery. The storytelling was pretty good, enough to get me invested in the plot and characters although easy enough to access for those who aren’t hardcore Lovecraft fans and it still kept me entertained, interested and on my toes looking for references to the deeper mythos, which I was not disappointed in. There aren’t many ways you can easily translate Lovecraftian storytelling to a videogame format, but for what it was I think CoC did what it was aiming to do pretty well. I don’t see what’s so wrong with it, I think it was handled, conceptualized and executed finely. ![]()
